Hi Everyone!
Well as hockey season gets closer and closer, players and fans are getting more and more excited. I know from my point of view I can’t wait to get going again. I have spent the last two weeks down in Sheffield and skated a few times with the Elite guys and most of them are starting this week. I must admit I am a little jealous they get to start so soon! Unfortunately due to Braehead Arena not being available because of the Davis Cup tennis and concerts we have to start a little later. There isn't much we can do but when we get going we will be looking to hit the ground running.
As I said earlier I have been down in Sheffield for the last two weeks. I have been helping out at the Best of British Hockey Camps. I had the pleasure of working with Corey Neilson and learning from him. I think one of the main things you realise when spending time talking to him is that he has an immense knowledge of the game. He is has a very professional approach to whatever he does but at the same time he doesn't take himself too seriously. Those are the kind of qualities you need in your team and last year you can see how it rubbed off on his team. The hockey school as a whole was really successful and I had a great time doing it. Hopefully I will be invited back to do more!
I'll finish this week on my home town team. The Fife Flyers will get their season underway in nine days against the Dundee Stars. Since I have the day off I may just head up for a sneak peak at the game. It will be interesting to see how both teams shape up. I really hope Fife do well this year. It’s a club with a massive history and success and they deserve to be in with the Elite clubs in the UK. Second place behind Braehead will do just nicely!!!
