The hockey season is back, and you can follow it all with us right here on BIH.
We are working on an archive of matches, stats and players from BIH in the past few years.
Blaz Emersic may not be the most popular man in Slough right now but he has wasted little time in becoming a hero to a new set of fans.
The Slovenian forward scored a goal, bagged three assists and walked off with a man of the match award during his first weekend in an MK Lightning shirt.
His sensational start capped a near perfect two days for the defending EPL champions who racked up nine goals without reply to claim maximum points.
A crushing four-zip win over arch-rivals Peterborough Phantoms at the Thunder Dome was a dream debut for the former Jets sniper who swapped Berkshire for Buckinghamshire last week.
And after the new man’s starring role in a five-nil rout of Guildford Flames on Sunday, in which Emersic scored his first Lightning goal, the Milton Keynes faithful were left pinching themselves.
His arrival following a bust-up with the Slough management has resurrected flagging hopes the city side can mount a serious title defence.
This is a far cry from just a week ago when any chance of a championship charge seemed a long way off on the back of a 5-2 beating away at Manchester.
That loss left Lightning with only five points from a possible 18 against the top four teams in the standings. In each of those reversals an inability to find the back of the net with any regularity proved their undoing.
Now, with added firepower and a burst of confidence following Emersic’s arrival, silverware does not seem such a far-off fantasy for Milton Keynes.
The signing of the prolific forward is ideal timing for Lightning with Monir Kalgoum once again sidelined due to injury. Mind you, given the amount of time MK players have spent on the treatment table this term, I hope Joakim Wiklander has his passport in a safe place – just in case.
