The hockey season is back, and you can follow it all with us right here on BIH.
We are working on an archive of matches, stats and players from BIH in the past few years.

I have been continually criticised for being optimistic and never giving up hope in the Giants, Friday was a prime example of this; yes: the giants were 4-1 down, yes: the predictable shouts of discouragement of it being 'painful' and for them to 'wake up' were filling the south side, and yes: it looked bleak, but I know never to bet against a team until the final whistle blows and that a game of hockey can change like the flip of a coin. The Giants were desperate for a win, the league title was in sight and Coventry seemed to be faltering, and the Steelers weren't having the best season so far. However, the Steelers can never be bet against as they have some of the league's best players; Phillips, Legue and Verner. People had written the Giants off and assumed that the game had been lost, not me however I kept the faith.
I was looking forward to seeing McMorrow versus Sgroi, the bout had been publicised and Sgroi was vying for the title of tough man of the Elite League, McMorrow however denied him that chance and wrestled him to the ground. With the crowd pumped up from the opening face off it looked to be an interesting match. Phillips opened the scoring for the Steelers and the away fans filled the arena with chants of encouragement, this spurred Zion to net another goal five minutes later. The absence of Steve Thornton was enough for Jonny and Stewart to play Mark Morrison, who has been bench warming for the majority of the tail end of the season. The crowd however ignored all the rest of the players and just cheered on Mo, as much as it's great to see him on the ice at last there are 20 other players on the team, lest we forget! The prodigy that is Craig Peacock pulled a goal back less than two minutes later with one of his amazing goal celebrations. All was not lost as we had seen the Giants come back from larger deficits before. The first period, for me anyway ended on an optimistic note.
The second period was, well lets just say it wasn't the best period that I have witnessed in my hockey attendance. Two Steelers goals incensed the crowd, Sheppard and Talbot putting the score going into the third to 4-1. Verner seemed unbeatable, on his night he plays amazingly and is hard to get the puck past. The third however will go down in 2010 history as the greatest comeback match of the season. The final ten minutes of the match were the most eventful of any match I'd been to. Jacobsen who had been playing amazingly all evening finished a beautiful pass from Shieldsy putting the Giants back in the game. Tim Cook soon afterwards pulled off an amazing run and put the puck once more past a confused looking Verner.
George Awada set up Evan Cheverie for a goal, his 200th career assist, and it looked as if there was going to be some sudden death over time, but as I said before a hockey match can flip so quickly. Chev netted a winning goal with 9.9 seconds left on the clock! It was an amazing match and with an away win against the Steelers on Saturday and the Chavs losing...the league title may very well be up for grabs.
