When is enough really enough?
Hello everybody hope you have been enjoying your hockey unlike me and other Panthers fans. As I write this I’m thinking where did it all go wrong and I can’t put my finger on it but something has happened has aliens come down and replaced my team or is it more like they’re enjoying their beer and puck bunnies more?. So whatever we all think it is that has happened to the Panthers it’s not good.
Let’s start with the Cardiff game the reason we lost the game was poor defending and silly penalties. Cardiff’s second goal that night was a powerplay goal while penner was in the box for a mindless penalty again. Yet people cheer him call his name even when we were scored on people were saying it wasn’t Penner’s fault well whose is it then? Even after that goal the Cardiff fans where singing thank you Penner. On the subject of Penner I for one am happy he’s gone yes at first we needed him when all the other teams had their enforcers but when they started leaving one by one we should of then cut him then. But I digress the real talking point for me is what happened after the game my friend Emma turned to her hubby Iain and said we played rubbish why are people clapping them? To which some women turned around to her and said if you don’t like it don’t come. Now you may wonder why I’m putting this in here it’s because this women has been coming to the panthers for years and thinks the panthers never play bad when in reality it’s because she’s been watching the panthers play poor for so many years she’s come to like it never wants the club to win the league and is happy to just be up there. So does that make Emma wrong for wanting more? All I want is my team to give there all every night is that too much to ask?
Now let’s get on to the disaster that was Belfast. So on the Friday night we were winning 2-0 until the third period then it happened the penalty collapse where Belfast scored two goals on the powerplay when yet again we had players in the box taking stupid penalties again. Although in the end we won on a shootout and people will be happy about that. We should be looking at why we are shipping goals left right and centre K-wall can only keep out so many shots but while we are taking silly penalties and while we keep signing defencemen that think they should be centre’s yep I’m talking to you Mr. Zion we are never going to move forward.
And then we get to Saturday well what can I say about that? What were we thinking leaving two imports out and I’ll get to what I think the reasons why we benched them on Saturday in a minute. But to me when your Nettie just skates off the ice you have problems I mean why did he do this. As much as I love k-wall it’s his job to be Nettie you can’t just skate off if you’re having a bad day if I got to work and thought I’m having a bad day and just walk off my gaffer would go mad at me I hope that Corey did the same. The fact is this Panthers lost 7-2 benched two healthy imports and yet Corey has not even told the fans why he did it.
Right then let’s talk about Friday night after the game my friend went to Rockies the best hockey bar in the UK and he said he left at 1 am in the morning and two Panthers players that appeared to be drunk. One of the players was shouting his mouth off after not being happy and that he was leaving the club he was going to give his two week notice and go. It wasn’t just my friend he was saying this to it was anyone that would listen to him. So after that the following game on the Saturday he was benched now I’m all for players being told off and punished for their actions but come on do we really need one of our best players sat on the bench all game? Why not just fine him his wages for that week and if he doesn’t like it well I’m sorry pack your bags and get the hell out of my club.
This I think is one of the reasons why we have gone downhill so rapidity is that there doesn’t seem to be no discipline at the club and players think it’s ok to do what they want and what doesn’t help is the women that want to sleep and party with them each and every night. Also what doesn’t help is the hero worship that goes on at the club I openly admit that I am a massive Jade Galbraith fan but if he’s playing poorly I will be one of the first to admit it but our fans can’t see it and the sad fact that in a recession where people are losing their jobs at the drop of a glove people seem happy to pay their hard earned cash on to watching poor hockey well I don’t.
At the end of the day with the panthers it’s about bums on seats as long as it happens nobody will care about what happens off the ice. Well panthers fans it’s the time to stand up and be counted enough is enough and its time we had a change lets win a league title let’s stop with the poor reasons for losing and let’s stop seeing other teams having success and make our own.
I’ll end on this to the players if any of you are reading this I ask are you giving a 110% if not why? And if it’s just case of you can’t be bothered is it not just better to pack your case and leave?
And to the fans I ask this to the puck bunnies is more important to you to pull a player or win something? And the happy clapper fans if we have played poorly don’t clap them I know it’s hard but together we can break the cycle.
