The hockey season is back, and you can follow it all with us right here on BIH.
We are working on an archive of matches, stats and players from BIH in the past few years.

Its never an easy game against the Steelers, and Saturday's match was no exception. It was exciting to enter through the Season Ticket entrance for the first time in five months, there was an air of anticipation and it felt good to grab our traditional match night pints and discuss our opposition. The news had been broken on the website that Pelle had sustained an injury that would have him out of the lineup. However, Ryan Crane filled our vacant import slot after a few days of constant travel, and he was a very consistent player on the night.
After a sample of Big Ted's cookies we took our seats and contemplated the impending onslaught led by everyone's favourite antagonistic player-coach Ryan Finnerty. He talked up a big game at the Steelers shirt launch with such gems as "everyone looks f*****g good on paper" and "league championships are won in the dressing room, not on the ice." He was brimming with confidence, which only meant that he would have a steely determination and be willing to go through anyone that got in his way.
The first thing I noticed was how John DeCaro dwarfed the net. He was huge for a goalie, and played well, keeping the score respectable although a critical weakness was instantly recognizable; like Murphy last year he was guaranteed to give up rebound after rebound opportunity. Frustratingly, for the majority of the match, the Giants were unable to capitalize on this, but it's good to know for future matches.
The match started and once again this week was fantastically 'Kirstie McMurray Free'. I'm by no means Conor Phillips' biggest fan but he was a breath of fresh air, long may it last. The Steelers came out fast and outplayed the Giants for the first ten minutes. The Giants couldn't string two passes together. The match began as a stalemate with both Murphy and DeCaro looking unbeatable. Stephenson had a few close calls, all he needed was a slip up from the home team to take advantage. Hanson answered his prayers with a ridiculous two minute hooking penalty on Derek Leblanc. Stephenson capitalized with a laser from the point and the Steelers went 1 nil up. And that's how the score stayed until the third period.
The second period had plenty of penalties that the Giants couldn't convert , however the penalty kill was fantastic and Murph pulled off some dramatic saves. DeCaro was a brick wall protecting a tiny goal and a miracle was needed to penetrate his defences. This miracle came in the third period after a lot of tension had been thrashed out. The absolutely inch perfect pass from Walton (not credited, I might add) to Peaks ten minutes into the third set Garside up for the Giants' redeeming goal, as expected on the rebound. The clock ticked down... Over time came and went goal less and once again we were taken into the heart pounding yet nerve racking penalty shoot-outs.
Ramsay went one on one with Murphy, netting the first penalty and putting the pressure on Mason who stepped up to take on DeCaro, his effort was denied and Legue stepped up hoping to double the Sheffield penalty score. I squeezed my eyes shut, the lovely sound of the puck ringing off the goal post was like music to my ears. The responsibility for the extra point sat squarely on LeBlanc's shoulders. He missed, DeCaro proving formidable and the Giants came away with one point - a somewhat disappointing start to the season but at least it wasn't regulation. All eyes are on Hull this Friday, the P&O Cup winners who scored for fun against Dutch sides Tilberg and Geleen 8-2 and 7-1 respectively. Lets just hope the rest and practice of a week will work wonders. Hull are in no shape or form a joke or a walkover and will make the Giants work for a win. Two points are not guaranteed. Looking forward to the next match of the season, it's been a long time coming.
