The hockey season is back, and you can follow it all with us right here on BIH.
We are working on an archive of matches, stats and players from BIH in the past few years.
Hello everyone and welcome back to the House of Dows.
Where did today come from? Huge transfer news all around the league. First Sheffield secure the services of Jeff Legue for another year, crucial if they are to put up the kind of offensive numbers needed to win a title again. Coventry then land Domish, a player Thommo has been chasing for nearly two years, in a great move that I think highlight Coventry's ambition to be competitive force next season. Then right at the end of the day the bombshell:
Pelle is a Giant.
How on earth did this happen? Was he not happy at Cardiff? Or did the numbers just not add up?
If I was Devils fan I would start to get a bit worried that a player of his calibre is not leaving to go on to other leagues, but leaving to join a rival in the same league.
Rumours have been rife that all is not well down in Cardiff, sponsors leaving, investment drying up. I can't help but feel that every club gets this kind of speculation every so often and it seems to be Cardiff's year to be surrounded by rumours and gossip, which is what I hope the majority of these stories are.
In saying that though it's not all rosy at Paul Ragan's other club. The Steelers organisation has been beset by gossip over wage caps, player dismissals and worries over ticket prices. Just another off-season in Sheffield then. But what concerns me more is the recent arrival of Bob Phillips new blog. Every day a new post appears showing worrying numbers, allegations and even player contracts to prove that things aren't all great in the Steeler garden. It's had the (not too surprising) effect of polarising fans (by fans I mean forum users, there is a difference). Whether what he is saying is true or not is one thing, what I cant understand is what is he trying to do?
Is he trying to bring the club down (the 'if I cant have it no-one will' mentality), Is he trying to show up and discredit Paul Ragan (which if Ragan does go down the Steelers will follow) or is he trying to clean up the sport from the outside (which if he is then he is going about it in a marvellously short sighted way). If he loves the club so much then why is he seemingly so desperate to hurt it? More importantly if Ragan was such a crook why did he sell the club to him in the first place?
The club for it's part seem to be quietly getting on with things but a newly announced fans forum should produce some interesting discussion.
The Capitals have announced they will be playing in the EIHL next year. They have done this by announcing no new players, losing two key imports and they still have the coaches spot empty. Oh dear.
Fife has also announced they will not be competing in the EIHL, choosing the comparative safety of the ENL for next season. It's a shame that this is true but the wider question is where did these rumours start from? There seems to have been no serious consideration by the club and the entire will they, wont they scenario seemed to come from the sheer will-power of a lot of fans. We're a powerful bunch when we want to be.
Final thought, this is how you announce a new signing: http://www.belfastgiants.com/

Lastly a friend of mine is campaigning to get a proper rink in Leeds: Lets give her hand shall we by signing this petition: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/leeds-needs-an-ice-rink/
