Twitter Talk: Fans slam Steelers’ streaming and travel decision
- Updated: 11th January 2017
Sheffield Steelers’ decision to stop its Supporters Club from selling away travel in Sheffield Arena and confirmation it will only broadcast selected games on its live streaming service has been slammed by fans across the country.
Our latest Twitter Talk feature looks at the reaction to the statement published on the club’s website:
Do you know, if Caps or Flyers had pulled this move, Tony would be right in there with ‘disgrace to the league’ chat.

@CatsWhiskersTV its shocking…he has stopped caring about the fans and has not alienated a lot of us and all he is bothered about is money

Tony Smith: why not just ask fans to shop at Aldi instead of Asda so they can buy more 50/50 tickets?

Steeldogs stream games on crowds of 400. Don’t see them moaning when they lose money

When your league chairman is discouraging his teams fans from going to away games then maybe it’s time for the league to find a new chairman

@markhitchy Baffling. Only viable conclusion I can arrive at is, a desperate move of a club struggling financially. Hope I’m very wrong.

The more I think about this…. The LEAGUE CHAIRMAN actively being a barrier to his team’s fans generating revenue for other clubs. Wow.

Why would @steelershockey stop away travel if they have no concrete evidence that it is effecting home game revenue? Just alienates fans
