| Game report Stingrays produced one of the shock results of the season as they beat the league leading Blaze by the odd goal in three with young Scotsman Lee Mitchell celebrating his 200th career EIHL game by firing in the game winning goal early in the third period.
The pressure is really mounting on Paul Thompson's charges and this result was certainly not the one they would have liked going into Sunday night's massive game against Belfast at the Skydome, with Giants well rested after their abandoned game tonight.
As for Stingrays, it's a third home win in four and perhaps they are just picking up a bit of momentum in time for the end of season Play-Off's.
The opening period pretty much belonged to Blaze but despite outshooting their hosts by 15 to8 all they had to show for it was a powerplay strike by ace goalscorer Luke Fulgham (46th) at 13.14.
The second period saw the home side come much more into the picture and it was no real surprise when they tied the game at 28.32 thanks to a counter by their leading points scorer Konstantin Kalmikov (31st).
The third period saw Stingrays shock Blaze by grabbing the lead at 43.32 thanks to the efforts of Mitchell (11th) and with the home side giving as much as they got in the period and chances being created and missed at both ends it was anyone's game, however, neither side could find the net again and the final buzzer saw a serious dent in the Blaze title hopes.
