| Game report Stingrays are certainly finishing the regular season with some momentum as they picked up their 3rd straight win with this success over a Vipers side who have now lost four of their last five.
Led well by skipper Jeff Glowa (2+2), Stingrays finally overcame the outstanding Vipers goaltender Michel Robinson with a 3-0 third period surge to claim the points and they are now only three points behind Vipers with two games left to avoid the wooden spoon.
Stingrays were in charge for most of the opening period but could not make their domination tell as the teams went in tied 1-1. A quick opener for the home side by Pavel Gomenyuk (5th) at 3.35 was cancelled out by Matic Kralj (28th) for Vipers at 16.15.
A similar story in the second period but this time it was four goals shared. Kralj (29th) had Vipers ahead at 26.14 but a shorthanded strike by Lee Mitchell (14th) restored equality. Again Vipers went ahead through Jerraime Domish (6th) at 32.42 only for Glowa (11th) to level at 34.42.
The home side finally broke the back of a dogged Vipers in the third period with firstly Stephen Burns (4th) scoring shorthanded at 47.10 and he was followed by Jason Silverthorn (19th) at 51.20 and finally Glowa (12th) into the empty net with 20 seconds remaining.
