Improving Stingrays look like being no pushovers in the upcoming Play-Off's as although they now look likely to finish bottom of the pile, even after this overtime success in Sheffield, they are picking up points both home and away right now, with this being their 3rd win in 4 games.

It was an overtime strike by young Scot Lee Mitchell that saw the extra point head back to Hull but at least the single point Steelers gained edged them ahead of Edinburgh in the race for 5th spot in the final standings.

Stingrays had more of the play in the opening session, outshooting Steelers by 14 to 8 but they went in a goal behind after Doug Sheppard (19th) scored for Steelers at 11.38 on a delayed penalty.

Into the third and Steelers wasted little time in getting back on terms with Robert Dowd (14th) firing home at 41.30 but neither team could find a regulation winner after that despite opportunities at both ends.

Into overtime where Stingrays completely dominated and outshot the home side by 5 to 0 and the last of those shots was the game winner scored by Mitchell (13th) at 62.17.
