Anthony Lennon has become the second defenceman to commit to the Invicta Dynamos ahead of the 2011/12 season after Head Coach Kevin Parrish revealed the blue liner had signed on the dotted line for another term. Lennon now joins Jack Tarczycki, Richard Bentham, Corey Watkins and Andy Smith on the roster ahead of the new campaign with further signings to be revealed in the coming weeks.
Anthony Lennon first appeared for the Dynamos in 2004 and since then has spent seven consecutive seasons donning the team’s colours in the ENIHL. In his first term on the club’s books he featured 43 times and tallied 6 points as a ‘stay at home’ defenceman and, from that time, has gone on to appear on a total of 269 occasions, notch 31 goals, 115 assists and so 146 points from deep. In 2010/11 he was restricted to 30 games through injury but still demonstrated his importance to the team with a total of 25 points as the side finished fourth in the ENIHL South. Now the blue liner will be hoping to ensure stability at the back once again whilst adding to his tally when the new season gets underway in early September.
Speaking on the return of Anthony Lennon Head Coach Kevin Parrish revealed he was happy to have one of the clubs stalwarts back on the books and at his disposal for 2011/12. Parrish said, “Anthony is now one of the longest serving players on the team and he is a Dynamos’ lad through and through. This is his side and, as a result, he gives his all week-in week-out to help drive the club to the top”. Parrish then added what he feels Lennon brings to the table when he said, “I think Anthony can sometimes be underrated but I regard him amongst the best blue liners in the division and that’s why we have moved quickly to secure his services once again. He hits hard, will defend his teammates and will always put his body on the line to protect our net and that’s exactly the sort of defenceman every coach needs”.
Blue liner Anthony Lennon returns to the team for his eighth year and, come the close of the upcoming campaign, is likely to enter the club’s all time top five list for appearances. He currently sits seventh, some 101 outings short of record holder Elliott Andrews.
