The hockey season is back, and you can follow it all with us right here on BIH.
We are working on an archive of matches, stats and players from BIH in the past few years.

On Sunday night the Flames took their show to Milton Keynes to face the reigning league champions; a Lightning side, in fact, that has had more success against Spectrum’s outfit than any other EPL team over the past 5 seasons, including 5 wins from 6 league outings just last year. This particular night, though, would not follow historical trends as Ben Campbell put the Flames in front at 14:15 on the powerplay to take a lead they would never relinquish en-route to a 5-1 win and retention of an unbeaten record at 9 and 0. A goal by Nathan Rempel just 17 seconds into the 2nd doubled the lead, but Adam Brittle cut it in half in the 27th minute. The home side looked to tie it on a powerplay late in the middle frame, but a Rempel shorthanded strike with just 5 seconds on the period clock put Surrey’s side up by a pair. David Longstaff added another Flames strike at 48:00 to open a 4-1 margin before Martin Masa added the final goal inside the final minute to confirm the result.
24 hours earlier, on Spectrum’s ice, the home side wasted little time in jumping on the Telford Tigers, scoring 30 seconds in, then taking on a 3-0 lead before surviving a bit of a wobble to eventually go on to an 8-3 win. Rempel kicked things off. He picked up the garbage in front of the net when he stuffed in a loose goal line puck that was leftover after Campbell blazed his way to the front of the goal. At 5:14 Stuart Potts got his stick on a Paul Dixon lob from the blue line to double the margin. 48 seconds later Campbell put on a speed show again when he raced through the neutral zone, collected a long pass, and then used a slick shift to wind up all alone on goal before beating Declan Ryan. The Tigers got back in it though with a Scott McKenzie powerplay goal at 11:06 before Marek Hornak added another to pull to within 1 before the period timed out. A pair of second period goals by Masa, however, re-stored the 3 goal lead. He fired the game winner over Ryan’s shoulder at 22:21 then added another in the 30th minute. At 41:30 Andy McKinney netted the visitor’s 3rd of the night to close the gap again, but Campbell replied to that one a couple of minutes after that. Milos Melicherik made it a 7-3 game before Rempel scored his second by banging a rebound off the end boards into an open cage to close out the result.
Paul Dixon, Flames Head coach, reviewed the weekend:
“We have had a couple of weekends where we got 4 points but didn’t necessarily play to our ability, but I felt that for the most part this time around we played a very strong weekend and were more deserving of the ultimate results. We started off very well on Saturday, which has not been the norm for us so far this year and, with the exception of a 6 or 7 minute let down in the first period, we had a good night. On Sunday we had the trip to Milton Keynes which has not been a good venue for us over the years. We know they come at us hard early on and I thought we showed a lot of composure in absorbing the pressure and quickly turning the puck around to work on moving forward and getting it back in their zone. We played a smart, disciplined game and were able to have everyone doing a lot of little things that ultimately generated the key moments that gave us the offence we needed to nail down the win. When you do that and you get the kind of goaltending we have behind us you are going to have success more often than not. Hopefully we can use that game in continuing to build our confidence ahead of a very challenging weekend with a visit to Basingstoke on Saturday before Slough lands at Spectrum on Sunday.”
