Beauregard returns to the UK
The Elite league’s top forward from two seasons ago has put pen to paper and David Alexandre Beauregard will be wearing the colours of the GMB Nottingham Panthers in the expanded 2010-11 Elite League campaign.
The GMB Panthers are delighted to announce the latest signing as the team building for the upcoming season moves on at a pace.
Coach Corey Neilson was hopeful of tempting the French-Canadian to Nottingham last season but he was lured away from the UK by a big offer in Italy.
Now he’s coming back to the Elite League and everyone is hoping he will pick up where he left off with the Altrincham based Manchester Phoenix where he bagged 44 goals and 35 assists on his way to scooping a host of awards including Elite League Player of the Season.
“This is a real coup for us, I have admired David for many seasons and it is a mouth-watering prospect to have him in our line-up for next season. He knows all about our high ambitions and he wants to be a part of it,” said coach Corey Neilson today. David Beauregard was high on the shopping list of several rival clubs but chose to sign for Nottingham.
Added the player: “I was close to joining Nottingham last summer, it is a great organisation and they set the bar high. That’s fine with me, I’m thrilled to have signed for the club and can’t wait to get started.”
David was drafted by the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League in 1994 but his hopes of making the highest level of professional hockey were dashed by a freak injury which cost him the sight of an eye. He retrained, regrouped and returned to action to become a prolific goal scorer in minor league hockey with nearly 600 goals to his credit.
