The Bracknell Bees edged the league leaders in a thrilling encounter at The Hive - winning 6-5 after a shootout.
Nathan Rempel's late equaliser for The Guildford Flames forced overtime, but The Bees held on as Shaun Thompson's shootout goal gave the home side the extra point.
Bracknell matched their rivals throughout the battle and took the lead when Lukas Smital and Martin Masa combined, allowing Masa to score against his former side.
Guildford didn't take long to draw level thanks to Nathan Rempel's strike after good work from David Longstaff. The visitors tested Bees goaltender Tom Annetts throughout the first period, but the scores remained tied after twenty minutes.
The Bees retook the lead forty three seconds into the second period. This time Masa set up Smital to strike against his ex-club. The Flames responded once again as Rempel found the net for the second time as the Bees struggled to find any breathing space.
It got worse for the home side as Jozef Kohut was fed by Milos Melicherik and beat Annetts half way through the second period to give the visitors their first lead of the game.
The Flames looked to extend their lead and took advantage of a power play opportunity early in the third period. Greg Chambers struck with the extra man to give Guildford a two-goal lead.
Bracknell didn't let their heads drop and responded moments later. Twenty two seconds after falling two goals behind - Shaun Thompson took advantage of great work from Michael Bowman and Peter Jasik to give the Bees a lifeline.
The home side had renewed confidence and were soon level when Jasik slammed the puck home on the power play. Both sides had great chances to push ahead, and it was the Bees who finally found the fifth goal with Thompson grabbing his second strike of the game.
Time was running out for the Flames, but in the dying seconds with six skaters on the ice, Rempel completed his hat-trick to force the game into overtime.
Neither side could find the decisive blow in the extra period, meaning the second point would be settled in a shootout. Thompson beat Mark Lee with his attempt, and Chambers' shot was blocked by Annetts to seal an enthralling win for the Bees.
