Bees start building

The Bracknell Bees have announced the signing of their new head coach in the form of Gareth Cox, alongside the first three player signings of the summer.

 

Cox, who’s previous team the Bracknell Hornets last weekend won the ENL South playoffs over the Isle of Wight Raiders (6-4 on aggregate) has been officially announced after rumours started to grow a couple of weeks ago. He brings to the team experience and a good knowledge both of hockey at Bracknell and of young British talent. His teams are known for their hard working attitude, and his disciplined approach has seen the Hornets punch above their weight in terms of budget over a number of seasons.

 

Also returning to the hive for the 2010/11 season are star imports Jaroslav Cesky and Michal pinc. Cesky, who was voted EPL player of the year, along with his line mate Pinc (who was voted to the EPL 2^nd all star team himself) have agreed a second term despite attracting interest from a number of other clubs. The pair will also be playing alongside inspirational Captain Terry Miles, who’s leadership and dedication this year has made him a firm fan favourite and a key player in the future of the team.

 

Despite hints in the local press from Cesky about a possible return, even suggesting he would take a cut in wages to stay with the Bees; it was always a worry a big budget team may make a swoop for the pair. Bracknell fans can now breathe a sigh of relief that the duo, who between them have notched up nearly 230 points and both finished among the leagues top scorers, will be back in the black white and gold of the bees come September.

 

The first four announcements are a far cry from last years off ice problems, which saw the team signed in a very short time frame under the guidance of player coach Claude Dumas. Dumas, who has decided not to return to Bracknell for a second season due to personal commitments, was unable to make his first official announcements until June last year after being appointed late due to questions over the bees future. This off season promises to be the most relaxing and enjoyable for a number of seasons at the hive, as the team look to build a strong and exciting squad around an excellent foundation for their next campaign.
