The Basingstoke Bison are delighted to unveil a triple whammy of forward signings for the forthcoming English Premier League campaign.
The Herd have re-signed their leading import and British goal scorers in Ondrej Lauko and Ollie Bronnimann from last season, as well as snapping up useful teenager Callum Best from local rivals Bracknell.
The three were announced to a packed audience at Wolfies on Wednesday night at the club’s season ticket renewal night.
Slovak sniper Lauko led the EPL scoring last season hitting the net an amazing 63 times, which was 10 more than his nearest rivals. The fox in the box as he was nicknamed three times scored four goals in a game and also netted another six hat-tricks. In addition to this Lauko also picked up 48 assists for a points total of 111 – the third best in the league.
British hot shot Bronnimann was another important member of last season’s forward line as he found the net 26 times in a points total of 43. He was the only Brit to score a league hat-trick and also netted the winning penalty shot in the famous home shoot-out victory over Milton Keynes.
The final of the trio of signings is new boy junior Great Britain international Best. Last season he had a split year between Slough and Bracknell and ended the campaign with eight points, which included six goals. One of them came against the Bison on home ice for the Bees in the final meeting between the teams last season.
Delighted about the latest additions to his team player/coach Steve Moria said: “A number of clubs were interested in Ondrej, but he enjoyed his team in Basingstoke and the team he was on. He is natural goal scorer and is going to be a key player for this team for the coming season.
“Ollie is another skilful player and was probably our most natural goal scorer on the team last season after Ondrej. He is a great talent and I feel there is still more to come.
“Callum is a young guy who just needs an opportunity. He did well in Bracknell and I think he is one for the future.”
Bison fans have the chance to own all three players match-worn jerseys for the season as part of the Own and Loan scheme, which proved to be a great success last season.
Each player's home and away jersey will be available at £150 for the home shirt and £120 for the away.
All owners and loaners will have their name printed on the back of the player's jersey, as well as having the opportunity of getting a photograph with their respective player at the end of the season.
