Bison sign Slovakian defenceman
The Basingstoke Bison Ice Hockey Club are delighted to announce the signing of new import defenceman Marcel Petran.
The 24-year-old, who is 6ft 2ins tall and weighs 216 lbs, has spent all but one season of his career in his homeland, playing at the highest level in one of the top European leagues.
Last year he played for HK32 Liptovsky Mikulas and the season before averaged over a point a game in the MOL Liga (The Hungarian and Romanian League) playing for Budapest-based Ujpesti TE.
Director of Hockey Steve Moria is delighted with his capture
"Marcel will be a competitor who will be an excellent defenceman for the Bison. He comes with glowing references from former teammates and coaches. I think he will settle into the team and the town with relative ease."
Following his signing for the Bison, Marcel said.
"I like to try something new in hockey. I want to meet new people in a different country. Basingstoke is perfect for me. I want to play well for the Bison."
The signings are coming thick-and-fast in Basingstoke so keep your eyes peeled to the Bison website in the coming weeks to see who's the next player to be joining the Stampede.
Don't forget, the Bison will be holding a 'Meet and Greet' event at Wolfies on Wednesday 25th May, with a 7.30pm for 8pm start. No doubt more news ahead of the EPL season will be announced on the night, so make sure you are there to hear all the news.
Following the success of last season’s Own-and-Loan jersey’s, the Basingstoke Bison are once delighted to offer the opportunity for fans to ‘Own-and-Loan’ the home and away jersey’s that will be worn by the Bison throughout the 2011/12 season.
