Bison Value 4 Valour weekend

Bison Value 4 Valour weekend

Saturday night at the Basingstoke Arena will be a special one for the Basingstoke Bison as they are using the game to support Value for Valour programme, with proceeds from the evening going to the ABF – The Soldiers’ Charity.

As a tribute to the troops the Herd will wear specially designed camouflaged jerseys as they battle to win against their local rivals the Bracknell Bees. A bumper crowd is expected for what will be a great evening for a great cause.

Service personnel attending the game will be holding a collection, running a stall and having a raffle which includes some great prizes.
These include two tickets to a race meeting at Newbury and also four tickets to Twickenham for the Army v Navy rugby match.

Talking ahead of the derby clash Bison player/coach Steve Moria said: “We are looking forward to this special evening. Having a new uniform will give the players a buzz and I think the fans will like it too.
He added: “We have beaten Bracknell all season, but they are scraping for eighth spot and want to take every point they can get their hands on. That said, right now we are playing very well at home.”

Basingstoke come into the game looking for their tenth straight home league win, which is the team’s best record at the Basingstoke Arena since season 1998/99 when they won 12.

Adding extra spice to the derby match on Saturday which has a 6.30pm face-off, is the fact the Herd have a number of ex-Bracknell players and Bees a few ex-Bison players.

Tickets are selling fast for Saturday’s game so make sure you don’t miss and book them now from the box office on (01256) 355266.

Basingstoke will be minus Canadian forward Joe Ciccarello due to a knee injury, while Bracknell will be without import Andrius Kaminskas, suspended after he picked up a match penalty in the Bees overtime defeat on Thursday night to Guildford.

On Sunday night, the Bison are on the road to take on the Manchester Phoenix who will be without suspended import Jaakko Hagelberg.
He picked up match penalty as his side crashed 8-2 to the MK Lightning in their home leg of the English Premier Cup semi-final.

The Herd will no doubt get the back lash from that heavy loss this weekend, but having beaten Manchester on home ice last month they will be keen to repeat the trick again.
Moria said: “We only lost in overtime when we were last there. They have a strong team, but we will go there with a lot of confidence.”
