Blaze ready for biggest week of season

The Coventry Blaze are preparing for the biggest week of their 09/10 Elite League campaign.

Wednesday 19th January will see the Edinburgh Capitals visit the Skydome Arena to try to replicate their performance last Tuesday where they took all the points in a reverse fixture in the Scottish Capital. However the Blaze will be more then keen to cement their position at the top of the table with a win in one of their three remaining games in hand. A victory will see the Coventry Blaze stretch their lead at the head of the standings to three points with two games in hand.

Things only get tougher as the Coventry Blaze travel over the Welsh border to take on the Cardiff Devils on Saturday. The Welsh outfit haven’t dropped points against the Coventry side in the welsh capital this season and will be eager to maintain that record.

This difficult week concludes on Sunday at 6pm with the arrival of the Nottingham Panthers at the Skydome Arena for the third game in five days. The pressure is really on for Sunday as first place Blaze take on their closest rivals in proximity and League position. A spokesman for the Coventry Blaze has commented, “We’re expecting our largest attendance of the season on Sunday and I urge those planning on attending to book early to avoid disappointment.”

Paul Thompson, head coach of the Blaze said, “We’ve got a tough few days but if things work out for us we’ll be in a fantastic position and will have narrowed the opportunity for our competitors to challenge us.”

Tickets for Sunday’s clash against the Panthers are available now from the box office on 02476 630693 or by booking online at www.coventryblaze.co.uk. Tickets are priced at £15 for adults, £7 for under 16’s, £10 for NUS Extra card holders and OAP’s and there is a 2 adult/2 child family ticket available for £38.  The game starts at 6pm and doors open at 5pm.
