Bracknell Bees 1 - 2 Basingstoke Bison

The Bracknell Bees battled hard against the Bison - but a strong defensive performance was enough to give Basingstoke a narrow win at The Hive.
Ollie Bronnimann scored the game-winning goal late in the first period, and Bison netminder Dean Skinns shutout the Bees for two periods.
Ben Davies opened the scoring midway through the first period as he lashed a shot past Bees netminder Carl Ambler after good work from Steve Moria and Viktor Kubenko.
Good pressure from the Bees was rewarded when Peter Jasik struck on the power play to level the scores after being set up by Michal Pinc.
However, the Bees were only level for four minutes as Bronnimann found the net after some impressive play from Ondrej Lauko.
The Bees were handed a quick lifeline when Basingstoke took two penalties, resulting in a 5-on-3 for Bracknell. The penalty carried over into the second period, but the home side couldn't make it count and the visitors escaped.
Both netminders were in sparkling form during the second and third periods. Both teams had great chances to score, but both Ambler and Skinns remained solid between the pipes.
The Bees pushed for the equaliser, but they couldn't force the puck in, even when Ambler left the ice to make way for an extra attacker in the closing stages.
The Bees will feel they could have got something out of the game, but will still take a lot of positives at restricting one of the league's top teams to just two goals.
