Capitals win battle of the big cities
Capitals ensured their weekend clashes with Clan would be shared with an impressive turnaround in fortunes in Scotland’s capital.
It’s a 5th win in 7 games now for Capitals in all competitions but for Clan the road misery continues, with no 0 from 4 on their travels.
The home side were ahead at 6.54 when player/coach Richard Hartman opened the scoring and at 9.47 Bari McKenzie made it 2-0 before Ryan Campbell pulled one back for Clan at 10.19 to end the 1st period scoring.
Capitals upped the pace in the 2nd session and took full control of the game, adding 2 more strikes from Rene Jarolin at 27.57 and McKenzie with his 2nd with 41 seconds remaining to establish a 4-1 lead.
Any hopes Clan had of a fight back were dashed when Marcis Zembergs made it 5-1 at 48.08 but credit to the visitors as they kept plugging away and scored twice before the end through Brock McPherson on the powerplay at 51.43 and Adam Walker with only 4 seconds remaining to restore some pride.
Capitals however were well worth the points in the end.
