Caps to play in their Pyjamas!!!

The Edinburgh Capitals Ice Hockey Team (The Capitals) will play a league match in their pyjamas this month to demonstrate their support for the new pyjamas campaign for the new Sick Kids hospital.

The Capitals will wear the pyjamas strip just once - at their match against the Newcastle Vipers at Murrayfield on 20 December at 6pm.

10% of the ticket sales for this game will be donated to the new pyjamas campaign.

The Capitals’ Youth Development Team will also be fundraising for the new pyjamas campaign as they tour the venue with their mascot, Paws the lion.

The Capitals intend to sign their strips after the match and auction them to fans to raise even more funds for the campaign.

Scott Neil, Managing Director of The Capitals, says: ‘Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to be involved with the new pyjamas campaign and would urge all fans to help support the event and encourage others to support the work of the charity.

‘The guys are looking forward to playing in their unique strip and think it is a great way of promoting the event and the work new pyjamas are doing.’

Elaine McGonigle, Director of the new pyjamas campaign, says: ‘People are supporting the new pyjamas campaign by putting on pyjamas to carry out all sorts of activities. But to play ice hockey in pyjamas is quite exceptional and we are very grateful for this imaginative support.

‘The sight of a burly ice hockey team playing in their pyjamas is not to be missed. The Capitals are supporting the new pyjamas campaign - so give them your support and everyone wins!’

Funds raised by the new pyjamas campaign will pay for medical equipment, facilities for patients and their families, research and training at the new Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.

The new pyjamas campaign relies solely on voluntary donations.
