Captain Karl Lennon back for more

Energetic forward Karl Lennon has become the seventh player to commit to the Invicta Dynamos for the 2010/11 season having agreed terms to remain with the club for an eighth consecutive campaign. Lennon, who first iced for the team in 2003, has once again been handed the ‘C’ by Head Coach Kevin Parrish and so will continue in his role as captain having led the squad to the ENIHL Southern Championship in 2009/10.

Karl Lennon is a long time servant of hockey in Medway and has made some 255 appearances for the club amassing 122 points in the process. The battling forward brings an unquestionable work ethic to the team alongside some invaluable experience at this level and excellent leadership and, speaking on the return of his club captain, these were the points Head Coach Kevin Parrish highlighted most. Parrish said, “Firstly I am very pleased to have Karl back on the roster for another season. You never get anything less than 100% with Karl and every team needs players willing to give everything for the cause”. The Coach then confirmed that Lennon would once again don the ‘C’, having taken over the role at the beginning of the last campaign, and quickly moved to dispel fears that the pressure of the captaincy would affect his forward’s game. Parrish said, “I’ve talked to Karl in depth about the role of captain over the summer and decided that he should lead the team once again this year. Off of the ice there were some very big characters in the changing room last season and he dealt with it all brilliantly whilst guiding us to more silverware”. On the responsibility of the ‘C’ the Coach then added, “It’s true that Karl struggled with his own game at times in 2009/10 but, having asked him if the captaincy effected him, he was clear it was not the job of leading the team but more the pressure he put on himself to tally more points and change his style. He is always determined to improve and that, coupled with his attitude and the fact that he is Invicta through and through, make him a first class captain. Few people personify a club like Karl does with the Dynamos and that’s why he will once again lead from the front”.

Karl Lennon has now joined Liam Chong, Mark Harltey, Anthony Lennon, Adam Copland, Callum Fowler and Tim Smith on the roster for the upcoming season and will be hoping to steer a much changed Dynamos’ side to a successful ENIHL Southern Title defence. Further names are set to be unveiled in the near future but, having secured the captain, Kevin Parrish is in little doubt he has signed an important part of the jigsaw. Parrish said, “It’s set to be a very competitive 2010/11 but I’ve no doubt Karl will be back to his hassling best and leading a strong team from the front with strong performances and excellent leadership when we get underway in September”.
