Following on from the Capitals hard fought battle against Sheffield Steelers on Sunday, Doug Christiansen had nothing but praise for the Capitals players. He also revealed that he has raised a formal complaint to the Elite Ice Hockey League with regards to the conduct of the Sheffield Steelers.

Christiansen commented, "I am still frustrated by the weekend. I thought the team deserved a better fate on Sunday. I must admit the incident with Jeff Hutchins still baffles me. I know he is an irritating player but I thought what happened after was unacceptable.

"I have sent a formal email to the league regarding it. Unfortunately, our web cast on Sunday had problems, in order to restart the stream; the camera was turned off for roughly 4 minutes. During that time, the incident occurred. I have never sent a video into the league because I believe that for the most part players and referees will protect the players against bodily harm. Right now, our team with only 7 imports cannot protect ourselves. I will rely on the referee and the league to step in if needed. I will send everything into the league because teams are starting to take advantage of us. A prime example of this was our 5-minute power play on Sunday.  We had four players on our first unit in the box and the average age of our second power play unit was 21.

"The loss of Darius Pliskauskas is a big one. We are missing a whole line of forwards! It is amazing that we are evening hanging in there during our games. Our fans should be extremely proud of how are players are working and competing.

"As everyone knows, we are a small club, we are paying 10 imports, and I am actively looking to improve this team. We need bodies fast! I am extremely thankful to the supporters club, especially Jim McCrae, for their efforts to try and raise funds for another import. I just got off the phone before typing this!"

Christiansen appealed to the fans to continue to support the team, "Please consider coming to the game on Saturday and cheer the team on. We have a couple seats still left on the bus. I hope you continue to support us and see us battle through this adversity.  We need you now as much as ever before!

"Finally, do you know what keeps me up at night? The idea of this team healthy. Can you imagine what we can do? Stick with us! Help us! We are healing as fast as we can but bones and ligaments take time. However, you need to keep coming and buying jerseys so that we can go out and improve this club! The 1K Online Club is another important scheme for us and we believe that if it is utilised then we will be in a position to not only grow the fan base but also to bring in another import."

The next Capitals home game is against Coventry Blaze at Murrayfield Ice Rink on Sunday 22nd November, face off 18:00.
