Christiansen still positive after the weekend

Edinburgh Capitals coach Doug Christiansen remained positive following their 4 - 3 overtime loss against Nottingham Panthers on Saturday and the 8 - 0 blanking by Sheffield Steelers on Sunday.

Christiansen commented, "Of course I am disappointed with the score on Sunday night. The guys absolutely dumped the tanks on Saturday night and it showed. The players lacked the energy to compete with Sheffield. I am sure our fans know how hard this team works and sometimes you have a bad night. Sunday was one such night.  I would like to wish Sheffield well in Grenoble. It should be a great tournament for them and it should help give our league exposure to the top leagues in Europe."

Despite the low crowds and injury problems this season the Capitals have still managed to push put some fantastic results but the struggle is now on as they head towards a push to make it to the Nottingham Play Off weekend. This Tuesday evening the Capitals will be facing a tough task against current league leaders Coventry Blaze at Murrayfield Ice Rink.

Christiansen continued, "I strongly encourage all of our fans to come Tuesday night. It is a huge game. We are 7-1-1 in our last 9 home games and we need your support. January is the last month to add to our roster. It is imperative that our fans show their support and come to games and help support the team. We are the smallest club in the league and we have high expectations. We need to make informed decisions about our roster. Are we adding? How much should we invest? etc. These decisions are based upon our fan support.

Our recent crowds have not been what we need them to be but we need have the best possible squad. Without your support we cannot continue as we are so please come along on Tuesday and cheer the Capitals on. Thank you all for your support. Lets make 2010 the best season in Capitals history."

The next Capitals home game is on Tuesday 12th January at Murrayfield Ice Rink, face off is at 19:30. Tickets can be bought online here:
