Cloutier: No need to rush return

Player-coach Sylvain Cloutier could delay his return to the Excel Hull Stingrays line-up even when he does fully recover from a knee-ligament injury.
The 35-year-old sustained a grade two strain of his medial collateral ligament following a collision with a post during the 5-1 defeat by Sheffield Steelers at Hull Arena on December 5. He is close to making a return but admits he could continue behind the bench due to the team`s recent revival.
He said: “I like coaching and being behind the bench. There is no need to rush. We are playing some good hockey and by running the bench I feel everyone knows what they have to do more. It is a better run bench now. It was an adjustment for me to be a player and a coach but then we brought Bobby [McEwan] in.
“I miss playing and want to be out there and celebrate with the guys but as a coach I am happy because every time you win you are part of it too. But when you lose you take it harder. I have been able to hold guys accountable. When you are playing you don`t always catch everything and that is why I brought Bobby in. He will be able to hold guys accountable when I get back in the line-up and will be able to see things from the bench that I won`t see when I am playing. Guys know it too and they can`t get away with it.”
