Cloutier predicted Devils rise
Excel Hull Stingrays player-coach Sylvain Cloutier is not surprised by the success Cardiff Devils are having this season.
Devils, who visit Hull Arena tomorrow night, sit fourth in the Elite League table and are in the Challenge Cup final, where they will face Sheffield Steelers or Nottingham Panthers.
Cloutier said: “I had them down at the start of the season to be one of those teams to be up there. Gerad Adams has put together a really good team and they have a good mix. They have a strong home record but they have struggled to adjust on the big ice - that happens in hockey.”
Cloutier will then be hoping to spoil former club Coventry Blaze`s 10th anniversary celebrations at the Skydome on Sunday. He added: “It will be nice to be the party poopers! We had two good games against them recently but it`s about time we beat them. They have lost Adam Calder who is their leader and that is a blow for them but they have so many other guys who can score goals. We have been playing good hockey for quite a few weeks now and if we continue to do that, stick to the game plan and play for 60 minutes we will continue to win games.”
