Cloutier slams Stingrays display

Stingrays found themselves 3-0 down inside 16 minutes as goals from Toms Hartmanis, Kyle Sibley (powerplay) and Patrik Forsbacka (powerplay) put the Vipers in control.
Trevor Read (powerplay) pulled one back for Stingrays before the end of the period with his first goal for the club and Jason Silverthorn (powerplay) was on target for the second straight game to cut the deficit to one.
However, Vipers restored their two-goal cushion within 16 seconds through Dean Holland and Forsbacka stretched their advantage early in the final period. Young British forward Matty Davies opened his account for the season as Stingrays refused to lie down but that proved the end of the scoring.
Player-coach Sylvain Cloutier said: “The first period cost us, it was unacceptable.
“We talked about it before the game, you knew they were going to come out hard and we didn’t respond. Some guys have to wake up.
“You have to compete, if you don’t then you are not going to be here long. We have to play for 60 minutes, not 40 minutes. It’s a learning curve and pre-season is over.
“It was an important two points which we have given away and now we need to rebound against Nottingham tomorrow night but I know the guys will. We are going to have a big crowd and we are going to have to be ready because it is a really good team we are facing.”
