Cloutier tips Stingrays pair to shine for GB
Excel Hull Stingrays player-coach Sylvain Cloutier has backed Jack Watkins and Daniel Scott to play key roles for Great Britain Under-20s in their World Championship campaign next week.
Britain, who claimed a bronze medal in Belarus last year, have been given a far tougher group this time as they face hosts Germany as well as Austria, Belarus, Norway and Slovenia in Division One Group A.
Watkins and Scott, signed in the summer from English Premier League side Telford Tigers, will miss this weekend’s Scottish road double-header at Braehead Clan and Edinburgh Capitals.
Cloutier said: “It is nice to see them both called up. It is great to see them playing for Great Britain, it is always an honour to play for your country.
“They definitely deserve it, they are two up-and-coming guys and two we want to keep around here for a while.
“They are going to be two key guys for the team. They are in a tough group but Danny and Jack are going to be a big plus for them.”
Stingrays take on Cardiff Devils at Hull Arena in the Rapid Solicitors Elite League on Sunday December 18 (6pm face-off). Tickets can be purchased by ringing the Hull Arena Box Office on 01482 325252.
