Clouts hails Mitchell impact
Player-coach Sylvain Cloutier felt fit-again Lee Mitchell "set the tone" in Excel Hull Stingrays' 4-3 Elite League victory over Edinburgh Capitals at Hull Arena.
The British forward made his long-awaited first appearance of the season following a knee injury and helped Stingrays to their first win in nine games which lifted them off the bottom. Konstantin Kalmikov (2), Lee Esders and Adam Knight netted although Capitals did level on three occasions through Neil Hay, Simon Lambert and Owen Fussey.
Cloutier said: "Mitch set the tone. He led our team in hits and he just set the tone every shift he had. We know what he brings to this team, he is a key guy for us and I was pleased we could finally see him in our line-up. His line with Lee Esders and Shaun Thompson was our best line, it has speed and they are good defensively.
"It was a big win for us. They were six-on-three at the end and hit the bar twice but some luck finally went our way. Edinburgh are difficult to play against, they are hard to read, but we found a way to win."
