Copland returns to Dynamos blue line

Copland returns to Dynamos blue line

Coach Kevin Parrish has made his third signing of the summer with the return of defenceman Adam Copland to the Invicta Dynamos. Copland, who will now enter his third stint with the club, joins fellow blue line guard Tim Smith and new forward Callum Fowler on the roster ahead of 2010/11.

Adam Copland first played for the Dynamos in the ENIHL during the 2003/04 season before spending the following two campaigns icing as part of a touring team in Canada. On his return home he featured for the Basingstoke Bison in the Elite League ahead of a stint in Essex with the Romford Raiders in the EPL. In 2008/09 Copland then finally found his way back to the Dynamos and played a major role at the back as the team swept their way to both the southern and national titles. In 37 appearances he found the back of the net 10 times whilst contributing 24 assists to give him an invaluable 34 points for the season. His excellent performances led to him drawing the attention of the EPL’s Romford Raiders once again and he began 2009/10 back at Rom Valley Way before switching to the Chelmsford Chieftains later in the campaign. Now though the experienced ‘stay at home’ defenceman will line up with the Dynamos once again at the Silver Blades Ice Rink Gillingham when the first puck drops in early September.

Speaking on the return of Adam Copland Head Coach Kevin Parrish said, “We are very pleased to be bringing Adam back home. He was a massive part of the National Title winning team in 2008/09 despite playing the later part of that season through injury”. Parrish then went on to suggest the upcoming campaign might be the biggest yet for Copland adding, “This is a massive year for Adam to go out and prove he is one of the best D-men in this league. He’s big, strong, commands the blue line and often chips in with important goals using his rocket shot from the point”.

To date Adam Copland has played 73 games for the club, scored 13 goals, chipped in with 42 assists and totaled 55 points and the Invicta Dynamos look forward to him adding to that tally following the start of 2010/11.
