The hockey season is back, and you can follow it all with us right here on BIH.
We are working on an archive of matches, stats and players from BIH in the past few years.

For the first time this season, former Blaze player Danny Stewart made his apperance on familiar ground. However, instead of wearing the usual colours, Danny jumped on to the ice as the new Newcastle Vipers player coach. After losing to the Blaze 7-2 the day before, Vipers went on to the ice hoping to claw something back.
The first period saw some great saves from both netminders, which set the tone for the period. With Jaeger stopping 9 shots on target from the Vipers and 11 shots being blocked from the Blaze forwards. With ten mintues played, Blaze were slowly gaining control of the game, and the Bison line was starting to work well. This shortly after, resulted in a goal by Brad Cruikshank at 12:34 with Chambers and Carlson picking up the assist. With the first period slowly ending, Viper's were increasingly getting agitated.
The second period was very heated. With Blaze still in the lead, Vipers continued their offensive play. Then. Suddenly. The game completely changed. Half way though the period, referee Dean Smith stopped the game due to a Viper's injury. While on the floor, Vipers said something to the Blaze players, which lead to Brad Cruikshank jumping onto the ice and finishing a fight Vipers started. As the fight went on, several other players joined in. Vipers received 5.00 for fight, then 2.00 for slashing and 2.00 for roughing. Blaze penalties worse then fans first thought. Chambers received a slashing call and a game - forcing him to leave the ice. While Cruikshank a match ban for abuse of the officials. With both penalty box's full and Blaze now missing two players, the rest of the game was always going to be tough for the Blaze. With Blaze's back against the wall soon afterwards, Blaze fans were cheering their team on as loud as possible. Blaze managed to kill their penalty - remarkable - and maintain their lead in to the third.
The third period started with Vipers continuing their offensive play, but the next goal came from Owen Fussey at 50:11 with Lee and Fulghum getting the assist. With the game now in Blaze's hands late in the third, the game looked over for the Vipers. This was later confirmed by Sean Selmser at 55:08 when he scored the Blaze's third goal of night. Brett Jaeger got his first shut out of the season and picked up the man of the match award.
