Ignited by a Jeff Legue hat trick, Steelers set aside their current league woes to shock Blaze in their own barn and do their bit to dump the home side off the top of the standings.

Most of the damage was done in the middle session as Steelers overturned a one-goal deficit to take a 3-1 lead going into the final period and although Blaze twice pulled it back to a single goal Steelers always had enough in reserve to pull it off in the end and take the points deservedly.

Despite Steelers outshooting their hosts 13 to 7 in the opening period it was a single counter from Russell Cowley (9th) for the home side at 8.19 that split the teams.

All change in the middle session however, with the exact same shot ratio Steelers made it count this time with three quick goals from Legue (16th) on the powerplay at 30.36, Robert Dowd (6th) powerplay at 33.05 and Legue (17th) again shorthanded at 34.54.

A powerplay counter by Greg Chambers (19th) at 46.46 brought the home side back in it but just over a minute later Joey Talbot (14th) made it 4-2 Steelers. On a delayed penalty Brian Lee (6th) again had Blaze to within a goal at 50.45 but Steelers had the answers and on the powerplay Legue (18th) completed his treble at 53.35 before Dowd (7th) scored his second of the night at 56.06.

Adam Calder (20th) did have the final say for the home side at 57.46 but it was too little too late as Steelers claimed the points and put a dent in the Blaze league challenge.
