This midweek tie saw the Coventry Blaze take on the Edinburgh Capitals. Despite the 8-0 defeat against the Sheffield Steelers on the weekend, Edinburgh Capitals played a tough game. With just two minutes and thirty eight seconds played, David Lomas scored for the Capitals. With a goal so early on, Blaze were shaken. But not for long. As Luke Fulghum managed to skate right up to the Capitals defensive zone and score a back handed at 3:39 though traffic. With Owen Fussey picking up the assist. Not long afterwards, the Coventry Blaze scored again though Brad Zanon at 4:38 with Dan Carlson and Sean Selmser picking up the assist. The Blaze were now leading the game 2-1 early in the first, and things seemed business as usual for the Blaze. However, Capitals had other things on there mind. With some scrappy play in front of the Blaze goal, Brett Jaeger was forced to stop a number of shots from the Edinburgh forwards.

While, nothing came from the Capitals attempts, Blaze soon started taking control of the game, which lead to Aaron Nell getting a breakaway, which was brilliantly saved by Scott Reid. The first period ended Coventry Blaze 2, Edinburgh Capitals 1.

With the Coventry Blaze top line playing well, Blaze were successfully getting shots on target throughout the second period. But Jaeger was still forced to save two early shots from the Capitals, which showed the Blaze that it wasn't over yet. A one timer from Capitals forward Jeff Hucthins was then blocked by Jaeger, which was the wake up call the defence needed. Owen Fussey, Dan Carlson and Luke Fulghum all got to close to scoring, but were left unlucky. Jeff Smith then scored for the Blaze at 27:13 with Zanon passing the puck to Selmser, who sent it Smiths way. With the score now at 3-1, Capitals needed a goal. Which David Lomas gave them at 29:20, which ended the second period 3-2.

The third period was the downfall for the Scottish team. As Coventry Blaze seemed to get there forwards in gear, which saw British forward Owen Fussey score at 47:27. Then Sean Selmser scored on a powerplay, making it 5-2 early in the third. Selmer wasn't ready to call it a night yet, as he then went on to scoring another goal moments later at 49:20. At 6-2 Blaze looked comfortable. Buy maybe they got to comfortable to soon. As Adam Taylor scored at 50:15. As Jaeger blocked a shot, the puck rebounded and fell straight in Taylor's hands, leaving him with a empty net goal. With the game now close to ended, things got a bit ugly. As Brad Cruikshank had a little tiff with the Capitals goalie, which led to penalties. As time ran out, Blaze put there youngsters onto the ice to show there stuff. The game ended 6-3, with Jonathan Weaver picking up man of the Match for the Blaze, and David Lomas for the Capital.
