The Bracknell Bees have this week announced the capture of 2 further forwards for their 2010/11 campaign. Craig Tribe follows recently appointed coach Gareth Cox from the Bracknell Hornets, where last season he amassed an impressive 52 points in just 29 league appearances. Tribe will be no stranger to the Bees having iced a handful of games for them in the 2005/06 season, including his first goal at EPL level.
Re-signing for his second term at the club is Ashley Calvert. The 18 year old Sheffield born forward joined the Bees last season after his previous team, the Telford Tigers, took a year out from the EPL. Calvert was the only Tiger former player-coach Claude Dumas brought with him when he joined the Bracknell outfit, demonstrating how highly he was regarded. The fans favourite has agreed to come back for a second term, where he will be looking to gain more ice time in a bid to improve on last season’s points tally. Recording 7 goals and 12 assists, Calvert finished eighth in the bees scoring charts. Ashley was almost forced to leave the Bees part way through last season, after loosing a personal sponsor for his travel costs. Luckily Ashley had made a big impression with the “Bee Army” and 2 fans stepped in to cover the costs.
Whether Cox will make a move for any of his other former players remains to be seen. But having recently won the ENL south playoff final, no doubt a number of teams will be looking to their roster to strengthen squads for next season.
