The hockey season is back, and you can follow it all with us right here on BIH.
We are working on an archive of matches, stats and players from BIH in the past few years.
Hull Stingrays produced a battling display before eventually going down 6-3 to Sheffield Steelers in the Challenge Cup at iceSheffield.
Stingrays, without British duo Craig Mitchell (broken arm) and Ryan Lake (work commitments), took the lead in the ninth minute when Andrew Coburn netted for the second successive game.
But two goals inside the last three minutes of the first period saw Steelers go in at the interval ahead, with first Neil Clark levelling before Jason Hewitt put the hosts ahead.
However, Stingrays got themselves back on level terms in the 33rd minute with Jereme Tendler also making it two goals in as many games although Steelers regained the lead within 56 seconds through Jeff Legue, who then gave his side a two-goal cushion 95 seconds into the final period.
Jason Silverthorn opened his account for the season on the powerplay as Stingrays cut the deficit to one but once again Steelers hit right back with Joey Talbot restoring the home side’s two-goal advantage within 27 seconds. Ashley Tait wrapped up the scoring with 15 seconds left.
Stingrays are back in action on Saturday when they face Newcastle Vipers at Whitley Bay in the Elite League (7pm face-off) before welcoming Nottingham Panthers to Hull Arena on Sunday (6pm face-off).
