Dennis steps up to Dynamos defence

Invicta Dynamos Head Coach Kevin Parrish has made his eleventh signing of the off-season with the news that young defenceman Tom Dennis is making the step up from the ENIHL South Division 2’s Invicta Mustangs. 20 year old Dennis has risen through the junior ranks at the club but will now line-up with fellow blue liners Anthony Lennon, Adam Copland and Tim Smith when the 2010/11 season gets underway in September.

Defenceman Tom Dennis is a product of the Invicta Dynamos’ youth setup having progressed through the age ranges and was on the brink of inclusion for the Division 1 roster in 2009/10 before eventually spending one final term with the Mustangs in the second tier. He went on to play 19 of the side’s 20 fixtures as his team secured a very respectable fourth placed finish, just six points behind eventual league winners – the Bristol Pitbulls. Dennis continued to impress in his role at the back during the course of the campaign and his strong displays earned him the ‘Defenceman of the Year’ award at the end of season presentations and, now, a call up to the Dynamos ahead of 2010/11.

Speaking on the inclusion of Tom Dennis on his roster Head Coach Kevin Parrish revealed the skater always looked set for a birth in the ENIHL South Division 1 this term. Parrish said, “I’ve been watching Tom’s progress over the years and I had a lengthy chat with him before the start of last season about his future at the club. We both agreed that one final year with the Mustangs would secure him more ice time and so benefit him in the long run”. Lining up for the Division 2 side Dennis continued to impress the coach who always sought to keep an eye on him whenever possible. Parrish said, “I saw a few Mustangs’ games last season and Tom always did himself proud. He stops the opposition, is steady on the puck and has an eye for making important outlet passes”. Finally Parrish then stated his confidence in his new defenceman’s ability following a glowing report from Invicta Mustangs coach Ali Rodger by saying, “I have spoken to Ali regularly about Tom’s progress and he highly recommended his step up. Ali reiterated what I myself had already seen and expects Tom to become a valuable asset for the Dynamos in 2010/11”.

Latest signing Tom Dennis will don shirt number 20 when the new season begins in less than two months time and further news of his new teammates will be released in the coming days.
