Less than 24 hours after confirming his goaltending duo for the 2011/12 season, Invicta Dynamos Head Coach Kevin Parrish is back in the hunt for a netminder after promising youngster Andrew Dickson opted to cancel his contract with the club and switch to the Elite League’s Belfast Giants. Dickson’s u-turn now leaves a frustrated Parrish with only Andy Moffat on his books able to fill the spot between the posts and the coach is left scouring available talent in the hope of filling the void before the first puck drop in September.

Andrew Dickson was the Dynamos’ eighth signing of the summer and looked set to return to the ice in the team’s colours having posted a save percentage of 91.12% in his debut year in Gillingham. After picking up the ‘Coach’s Player of the Year’ Award the promising youngster was then offered a second term at the Silver Blades Ice Rink as he looked to continue the development of his game but he will now return to Northern Ireland to pull on the shirt of the Belfast Giants in 2011/12.

Speaking on this recent turn of events Head Coach Kevin Parrish revealed he had been left frustrated by Andrew Dickson’s departure but insisted that he understood the shot stopper’s decision. Parrish said, “I’m very disappointed that Andrew has changed his mind but, naturally, I can also see why he has. He has the chance to not only return home but to play at the highest possible level over here and he couldn’t really turn that down”. The Coach then went on to explain his dismay at the Giants setup when he added, “What I am unhappy about however, is the way Belfast have gone about their business. They were aware that Andrew had agreed terms in Gillingham but still pursued him regardless. I think this shows a total lack of respect towards our club and I would have expected better from such a well standing Elite League outfit”. Parrish then said it was back to the drawing board for him when he added, “I’m now on the hunt for another goalie and, with the season just around the corner, this is not the ideal time to be looking for someone to fill such an important position. Most players have already signed to teams for 2011/12 and we now have a very short time frame in which to work but I will be doing my best to find a suitable replacement”.

Andrew Dickson’s departure cuts the Dynamos’ roster to fifteen ahead of the new campaign with Head Coach Kevin Parrish now having more work on his hands than planned before league competition gets underway in just over a month’s time.
