The Bracknell Bees are sad to announce that Head Coach Claude Dumas will not be returning to the club for the 2010/11 English Premier Ice Hockey League season.

Former NHL-draftee Claude took on the role in May 2009 and in spite of having to start to put together a team relatively late in the day in comparison to our local rivals, managed to unearth a squad that narrowly missed out on Play Off qualification and included the EPIHL Player of the Season (Jaroslav Cesky) and a 2nd All Star team member (Michal Pinc).

Bees GM Stuart Robinson said "Katie and I spoke with Claude at the start of March to see how he felt about next season. He is getting married in Canada in August and we wondered whether he would be in a position to return. Naturally his future domestic plans are a priority and he was unable to guarantee availability to commit to the Bees."

"We were keen to ensure that the retention and recruitment difficulties that the Bees went through last Spring weren't repeated this year, so we have therefore kept him fully up to date with our plans. But in order to push them through positively, he understood that we needed to find a coach who could now commit for 2010/11."

Bees Team Owner Katie Eleftheriou said "Claude has been an absolute pleasure to work with and has been one of the most genuine and honest guys in hockey. In spite of the 294 mile round trip from his home to the rink three or four times a week, he has professionally applied himself to the challenges of last season and worked tirelessly to prepare the team. We sincerely thank him for everything he has done and he will always be welcome at Bracknell. We wish him well with his plans to marry his fiancée, Natalie, in the summer."

Stuart further added - "Claude has been a good friend. But our recruitment plans for 2010/11 are now moving apace and we expect to officially announce our new coach and first few player signings within the next week."
