Dan Ceman

Dundee CCS Stars are delighted to announce their player/coach for this forthcoming season in the Elite League.

Dan Ceman comes highly recommended from some of the best names in professional ice hockey, both as a player and a coach in the dressing room.

Over the past four seasons he has played in the Danish Elite League with Soenderjyske, and in the last two seasons he has captained them into a domestic treble last year and the Elite League title the previous year.

His career stats and performance levels all indicate that he is a proven winner and he is determined to develop his hockey career in coaching by taking the reigns at the Stars in this top flight in Britain, he has shown the ambition to build a team in a very competitive league.

Dan’s previous Clubs include Hampton Road Animals in the East Coast Hockey League and Portland Pirates and Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League. In Europe as well as the Danish Elite League, Dan has played for Sheffield Steelers, Bracknell Bees and Nottingham Panthers in both the Super league and Elite league, in fact, in the super league he was one of the top goal scorers, clearly his knowledge of the Canadian, UK and mainland Europe hockey scene will bring huge benefits to the Dundee Stars, his playing career has been based on determination and an excellent work ethic. He has first class leadership and communication skills and is keen to develop young players for the future. He keeps himself extremely fit and has strong discipline qualities.

In the off season Dan resides in Windsor, Ontario where he works as a teacher. He is married to wife Melani, a native of Bracknell who is a former UK champion hurdler and is an accomplished athlete in her own right.

Mike Ward, Stars Director of hockey said “It was important to find the right guy to build a team for our first season back in big time hockey, we are starting from scratch and we needed a person with good playing skills and a good knowledge of the British game and in Dan I’m sure we’ve got the right man for the job” he added “All the guys I’ve spoken to about Dan have came back with the same high level of opinion about him and after spending a good few hours on the phone to him in Canada, I’m sure the Dundee fans will not be disappointed, and now like them I can’t wait for September to see this team hit the ice”

Dan spoke from his home in Windsor last night “I’ve been following this event of the Stars acceptance into the Elite League and I hoped I could become involved as their player/coach, I am therefore truly honoured and extremely excited to have been chosen by the Ward family as their player/coach for the Stars in their inaugural season in the Elite league. There is no doubt it will be tough going against the big established teams but I am up for that challenge and from what I’ve heard about the Stars fans, they are up for the big challenge ahead. With that in mind I have started the recruitment process already and intend to put together a team that will make the City of Dundee and the Stars fans proud, I want to build a team that displays passion, determination and intensity each and every game”
