Duo join Oxford from Wildcats

Oxford City Stars are pleased to announce that Gareth Endicott and Wayne Fiddes are joining their ENL1 team for the 2010/11 season. We are also pleased to welcome back Andy Cox and Grant Bailey for another year at Oxpens Road and in addition to this more experienced group of players we can also confirm the return of youngster Josh Oliver to his hometown club.

There's not much that needs to be said about Gareth and Wayne as they are both well known to local hockey supporters. Wayne has been a long time stalwart with Swindon in the EPL and Gareth has also spent most of his career with the Wildcats though he did spend time as a player and coach for the Wightlink Raiders in recent years. Something people may not know is that both have played for Oxford in the past. Gareth will take up coaching duties as Ken Forshee's assistant in addition to his playing role.

'Ace' Bailey has spent several seasons with the Stars and as well as being one of the league's best power forwards he brings a wealth of experience and is a seam of endless amusement to his teammates, coaches and management, mostly off the ice we might add. Andy Cox has spent nearly all of his senior career at Oxford, probably because no-one else would put up with him. He's also a highly skilled player with a big heart who's had to battle through a lot of injury problems yet keeps coming back for more.

Josh Oliver is a local player, the youngest of the three Oliver brothers. He spent last season icing for Swindon U18, ENL2 & EPL yet still managed to fit in some games for Oxford in ENL1 under a dual registration scoring three goals in his five appearances.

We expect to announce more signings for the ENL1 team over the next few weeks as well as a new shirt sponsor. Following successful trials we also expect to start announcing players for the new ENL2 team shortly - the selection process is not yet complete as there is strong competition for places. All players who attended the trials will be contacted over the coming week (if not contacted already) to be told whether they have been successful.
