On Saturday evening the Swindon Wildcats added a further two points to their season as they overcame the visiting Peterborough Phantoms with a comfortable 7 - 3 victory.

After opening the game in convincing style with a goal from the in form Aaron Nell, the Wildcats then went about earning a second just minutes later. A deflected effort from Nicky Watt after an initial Paul Swindlehurst shot saw Swindon put up a second goal and after the Phantoms' netminder gave away a loose puck in front of net, player/coach Ryan Aldridge found import Jonas Hoog in front of net for a third.

A powerplay opportunity soon led to a fourth for the home side, with a bombardment of shots surrounding the Peterborough goal. Although keeping out several consecutive shots, Phantom's netminder King could do very little as Wildcat import Michal Pinc scored his first of the evening with a top corner shot.

Closing out the period in great form, fellow import Jaroslav Cesky then grabbed another for the 'Cats as an individual effort saw the Czech travel from his own blue line and to the Peterborough zone, of which was finally finished with some quick hands around the netminder for a fifth.

A 5 - 0 score line made for comfortable position for Swindon and although the visiting side were to earn their first of the evening just a minute into the second period through Glowa, Swindon were soon back on the offensive. Another powerplay situation left Swindon on the attack and once in space, Nell soon earned his second of the night after his slapshot beat not only a screen of players but a unsuspecting netminder.

Earning somewhat of a individually deserved goal, James Ferrara did eventually close the score when his quick release in front of net was to beat Wildcat netminder Dean Skinns.

A final third period saw both sides continue a well fought game but with just two minutes gone, previous scorer Hoog was again seen scoring as a breakaway led his shot beating a lone defenseman and a screened netminder for a defining seventh goal. A final powerplay opportunity would see Peteborough earn a consolation third and final goal of the evening through defenseman Randall however time was soon to run down and give the home side a well deserved and well earned two point victory. A solid two point win will now be taken into tomorrow night's game as the Swindon Wildcats now head to Bracknell to a face Bees side in what many will see as an interesting derby game.
