The hockey season is back, and you can follow it all with us right here on BIH.
We are working on an archive of matches, stats and players from BIH in the past few years.
Robert Farmer scored twice as CPP Coventry Blaze registered a third successive victory in the Rapid Solicitors Elite League by beating Fife Flyers 4-1 in Kirkcaldy.
Blaze went into the game without import trio Jerramie Domish, Bryan Jurynec and Peter Hirsch, the latter with his wife due to give birth.
Hirsch’s absence prompted coach Paul Thompson to call on former netminder Tom Murdy, who is now playing for Swindon Wildcats in the English Premier League.
Goals from Farmer and Matic Kralj (powerplay) put Blaze 2-0 ahead inside 12 minutes.
Dan Ceman, making his Flyers debut following his recent departure from Dundee Stars, pulled one back for the hosts but Farmer quickly restored Blaze’s two-goal cushion.
Shea Guthrie (powerplay) increased Blaze’s lead towards the end of the second period and that proved the end of the scoring.
Thompson said: “It was a good solid road win. Every single one of them played well.
“We brought in Tom Murdy and he had a strong game. He played well in the first period and did not have too much to do after that but he was solid when he needed to be.
“We only had four defencemen and we brought in young Matt Selby. He got a couple of shifts in the third period and it was good to see a 16-year-old kid get some ice time at this level.
“Robert Farmer got another two goals and man of the match. His line with Shea [Guthrie] and Woo-Sang [Park] is working really well at the moment.
“I don’t think there is a British forward out there at the moment playing any better than him. He is really impressing for us.”
Blaze take on Edinburgh Capitals at the Skydome in the Rapid Solicitors Elite League on Sunday December 18 (6pm face-off). Tickets can be purchased by ringing the Box Office on 02476 630693 (option 0) or by booking online at www.coventryblaze.co.uk.
