Flames add newcomer Joe Graham
The Guildford Flames ice hockey club have added a new defenceman to their roster mix with the addition of 20 year old Joe Graham. The 6’1”, 190lb skater arrives from the Manchester Phoenix where he played last season, icing 53 times and netting 6 goals and 24 points. In the two previous senior campaigns, the Nottingham native represented the Panthers from the same city. Graham’s first senior action took place with the English Premier League Solihull Barons during 2005-2006. He iced in 42 games with the same club the following year before taking his game back to Nottingham to start 2007-2008.
Graham’s early experience, however, is not limited to domestic duty. This past season he made his 3rd representation of Team Great Britain when he helped the side to a World under 20 Gold medal haul. In 2007 he carried the flag for his first time with the World under 18 team ahead of helping the under 20 team to a silver medal on the 2009 World stage.
Paul Dixon, Flames Head Coach, commented on the new recruit:
“Joe had a good showing last year with a good team. From our perspective it never hurts to bring in younger players who we think can immediately step into a role. He made a real contribution to the success of the Jr national programme where he is obviously recognized as a talent in the pool of new generation players. We believe he will be a great asset to our team and to our dressing room dynamic.”
