The hockey season is back, and you can follow it all with us right here on BIH.
We are working on an archive of matches, stats and players from BIH in the past few years.
Forgetting an 8-3 beating just 24 hours earlier, and paying no mind whatsoever to the 41 point spread from the bottom of the table to the summit, an unanswered 4 goal second period by the Bracknell Bees overturned a 2 goal Flames lead and converted the outing into a 4-2 defeat of Spectrum’s tenants during a Flames visit to Berkshire for the conclusion of the 2 game home and away holiday set. Martin Masa continued to score at pace, bagging a pair in the first period to help his side to an early 2-0 lead. The Czech winger’s first of the evening came on the powerplay at 12:30 and then he added the other at 15:20. The Bees offensive outburst began on their own powerplay early in the middle frame with a Valdemar Pelikovsky goal to pull to within 1. A James Galazzi shorthanded goal just past the midway mark of the outing levelled it. Former Flame Terry Miles put the Berkshire outfit in front with the eventual winner at 34:14 and Michal Pinc offered a bit of breathing room with a goal at 38:18 while the home side held the Flames to just 8 shots on goal during the session. Though Surrey’s outfit managed a 15-2 shot advantage in the 3rd, Carl Ambler completed nearly 45 minutes of shutout hockey for his part in demonstrating the illusory nature of league table records.
Paul Dixon, Flames head coach, offered his thoughts on the game:
“The Bees were ready for us on Monday. You know that when you play a team straight away after hitting them with a heavy loss that they are going to have something to prove and they came to the rink ready to play and we didn’t respond. They played a solid game and limited our opportunities in the first couple of periods and when we did have the balance of play later on in the game, they got excellent goaltending to pick up a deserved win. Obviously we are very disappointed with the effort that we turned in. This is a very important part of the schedule for us and we were hoping to string together a package of wins to see if we could make any headway in creating a spread at the top of the table. We need to be much better than we were in this game and we will take that with us through training ahead of another pair of very important games.”
