The hockey season is back, and you can follow it all with us right here on BIH.
We are working on an archive of matches, stats and players from BIH in the past few years.

The Guildford Flames ice hockey club reverted to the comforts of home on Sunday night, but the locale made no difference as the 5-2 loss at Basingstoke Bison the night before was followed up with a 5-3 loss to Slough Jets to hold Spectrum’s tenants pointless over a weekend for the first time this season.
A scoreless 1st period against the Jets was narrowly averted when Ben Campbell netted with just 14 seconds on the clock to give the Flames a slim lead at the break. Ticket goers were treated to a 6 goal middle period. Unfortunately, for most of the nearly 1600 people in Spectrum’s seats, 4 went the way of the Jets. Adam Calder tied the game at 26:03 when he wired a shot by Mark Lee from a tough angle. David Longstaff replied in the 29th minute to take the lead again, but a Joe Greener goal about 4 minutes later levelled it for the travellers. A Flames powerplay goal just 30 seconds into the man advantage at 33:57, thanks to a Paul Dixon one timer, again put the Flames in front, but a pair of Jets goals inside the final 5 minutes of the period opened their first lead of the evening. Slava Koulikov tapped a Darius Pliskauskas feed into an open net at 35:10 before another Calder goal at 39:01 moved Slough to the driver’s seat with 20 minutes on the clock. The Flames continued to outshoot the leaders in the final period, but Slough added the only goal of the frame when Koulikov finished the scoring at 57:31 to secure the final result.
24 hours earlier, the Flames were turned away from Basingstoke Bison with a 5-2 defeat. The home team began the scoring less than 2 minutes in and then added another before the period’s midway mark to hold a 2-1 lead they eventually cushioned in the game’s later stages. Steve Moria had the opener at 1:29, but Nathan Rempel tied it in the 6th minute. At 8:37 a powerplay goal by former Flame Ollie Bronnimann gave his team the advantage they enjoyed to start the middle frame. The Swiss passport holder extended the Bison lead with his 2nd of the night in the dying minutes of the period before another ex-member of Spectrum’s side, Nicky Chinn, put the game all but out of reach 10 seconds before the break. Rick Plant got one back on a Flames powerplay just over 5 minutes into the 3rd but another Bronnimann marker at 49:40, his hat trick goal, cemented the ultimate result.
Paul Dixon reflected on the weekend:
“After our success against Manchester, I am sure I am not surprising anyone by saying how disappointed we are to come away with no points this weekend. Of the two games, Saturday was our weakest. For the late part of the 1st and most of the 2nd we actually had many good opportunities to get back control of the game but we couldn’t make it happen and then the Bison made good on some late chances of their own in the 2nd to pretty much take us out of contention. I thought we played very well on Sunday for the most part. We had a wide shot advantage and carried the majority of the territorial advantage. We really missed out on what should have been a much larger lead heading into the 2nd and then Slough really did a good job of making the most of their openings to get in front and not look back. It is a game we should have won, so from that standpoint, even in the context of a 0 point weekend, I think we have to be careful not to get too carried away with a negative outlook on the entire weekend. We lost a bit of ground in the title race, but with so much hockey left, we are still in a very good position and we are looking forward to a chance to redeem ourselves with another tough test next weekend when we visit Milton Keynes and then come back home for another crack at Basingstoke on Sunday”
