The Slough Jets are delighted to announce the signing of former Elite League winner Doug Sheppard for the 2010/11 season. The 33-year-old Canadian who has spent the past three season’s with the Sheffield Steelers has agreed to join the current English Premier League playoff champions.

During his time in the Steel City, Sheppard won two Elite League playoff championships and one Elite League title before parting company with the Steelers at the end of the 2009/10 season. A delighted Jets head coach Pete Russell confirmed he was looking forward to working with Sheppard: “When I found out that Doug had become available I knew he was exactly what we were looking for” said Russell.

“He has a proven track record in the UK and I am more than sure he will come and do a very good job for Slough in the EPL. He had a lot of interest from around the Elite League and EPL so as you can imagine this signing has given the whole organisation a major boost. Doug is coming here to help the Jets defend our playoff title”.

Speaking after putting pen to paper with the Jets, Sheppard was delighted to be heading to The Hanger: “After sitting down with Pete for twenty minutes, the decision to join Slough was an easy one, I knew straight away that they were the club I wanted to join so I am delighted right now” said the Canadan. “I’ve talked to a lot of hockey people that know the EPL and I’ve been told great things about the Jets organisation and the fans. I am looking forward to my first year in the EPL, in a Jets jersey and hopefully we can add another championship to their playoff success”.

In 66 Elite League games last season, Sheppard recorded 21 goals and 41 assists.
