The hockey season is back, and you can follow it all with us right here on BIH.
We are working on an archive of matches, stats and players from BIH in the past few years.
The Belfast Giants Selects are pleased to announce the addition of two Steelers, a Giant and a Panther to the All-Star line up as the Elite League move into the final stages of preparation for their game against the Boston Bruins.
The first player selected is Josh Prudden from the Belfast Giants. Prudden, a Massachusetts native, grew up as a Bruins fan and is really looking forward to the challenge of taking on his hometown team. Prudden is a veteran of 4 AHL seasons and has attended multiple NHL camps, including the Boston Bruins in 2003. He will be an important part of the Giants Selects.
“Prudden will be skating against his boyhood team. When I told him he was selected, he was thrilled. He has been our most complete forward so far and earned the right to play in the game.”
Added to the defensive unit for the Selects is Sheffield Steeler, Jeramie Domish, another defender who skates very well and has a large amount of AHL experience. Domish should fit in well with the pace of the NHL players.
“To play in the NHL you need to skate. If there is one player in the league who can skate at that level, it’s Domish,“ said Christiansen. “I am really looking forward to seeing him compete at the NHL level.”
Another Steeler added to the team is Rob Globke, a former NHLer himself, who played 46 games for the Florida Panthers over three seasons. Last season, Globke iced for the Krefeld Penguins in the top German League and his size and skating ability made him an easy pick for the Giants Selects.
Finally, former Elite League ‘Most Valuable Player’ and current leading goal scorer, David-Alexandre Beauregard of the Nottingham Panthers has been added to the Giants Selects line-up. Beauregard is a prolific scorer and has the skating ability to play at the NHL level. He joins fellow Panthers Jade Galbraith, Corey Neilson and Jonathan Zion in the All-Star line up.
The final player announcements will be confirmed Monday, with the addition of one more forward, one defenceman and two goalies. The final decision on the starting goaltender position will be made prior to game time. One more weekend of action will give the coaches the opportunity to finalize the last four selections.
The Boston Bruins match against the Elite League All-Stars takes place on Saturday, October 2nd in Belfast. Tickets are available starting at £40.50. Book your seats now by calling the Odyssey Arena box office on 028 9073 9074 or logging onto www.ticketmaster.ie
