High drama but the GMB Panthers shrugged off injury and illness to win a dramatic shoot-out that should never have been against Hull (4-3) and the hero was back-in-the line-up Johan Molin.

Coach Corey Neilson, who played the weekend up front, was full of praise for his entire squad for getting four points despite widespread injury, illness and GB call-ups.

He opened the scoring with a powerplay blast from the blueline in the first only for Hull to equalise on a play that should have been stopped for offside. Early in the second Molin grabbed a superb short-handed goal to restore the lead only for former Panther Kalmikov to pounce on a give-away to equalise.

Cameron Mann scored early in the third to put the GMB Panthers back in front but a powerplay equaliser was awarded in the 48th minute after lengthy discussions amongst the officials. The video replays show no sign of the puck crossing the line and when asked, none of the four officials involved said they saw the puck cross the line, but the goal stood and after a missed penalty shot awarded to Nottingham (after they'd killed off a five-on-three powerplay to the visitors) the match went to overtime.

No further scoring and a penalty shoot-out saw the excellent Kevin St Pierre come out on top, standing big and tall he forced the first two Hull shooters to miss the target and Molin's goal on Panthers' second shot meant a further failure by the visitors would mean Nottingham had the extra a point. A reflex glove save proved that to be the case!

Elsewhere league leaders Coventry lost at home to Sheffield (4-6) on Sunday but Belfast won in Edinburgh (1-3).
