Frustrating night for Panthers
Sheffield converted three powerplays in a barnstormer to win 1-4 in Nottingham on Saturday night in a game which saw three Panthers' imports thrown out as a series of callswent against the home team.
The blistering first period had everything. GMB Panthers. already missing an import through visa hold-ups and Jon Zion through injury were reduced further when Guy Lepine was give a match penalty in the eighth minute. Panthers have already asked for a review.
A Tait powerplay goal in the ninth was followed by a penalty shot to thevisitors which the excellent Kowalski saved. In the second another powerplay was converted by the visitors to double their lead.
In the third another powerplay award to the Steelers resulted in Jade Galbraith getting a game misconduct for abuse of the referee (former Panther Tait scored again with the man-advantage).
David Clarke scored off the right wing to give the noisy home fans some hope in the 44th minute but Alex Penner then spoke out of turn and was given his marching orders too, after picking up a minor penalty was was killed off only for the visitors to score their only even-handed goal of the night a few seconds after the sides returned to full-strength.
